Wayne Ingram, Director of Children’s Services

Wayne is a North Philadelphian, born and raised. After coming up through the School District of Philadelphia, Wayne headed to the University of South Carolina to play football but he couldn’t stray too far from Philly. He came back to finish out his Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation at Cheyney University. Not wanting to leave all of the lessons he learned on the football field behind, Wayne stayed at Cheyney to earn his Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Most recently, he served as the Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Philadelphia.

Geri Lynn LaPorte, Business Office Manager

Geri Lynn is one of 6 children born and raised in the Roxborough/Manayunk area.  Her son attended North Light’s Aftercare programs as well as Summer Camp and played basketball here.  Later and even more recently, her (great) nieces and nephews have also enjoyed spending summer’s here at our camp as well.  She comes to us eager to learn all about our non-profit organization from the other side.

Geri Lynn enjoys spending much of her time with her grandson, and revealing jewelry live on Facebook.

Brian Larthey, Facilities Manager & Recreation Coordinator

Brian is a native of the Roxborough and Manayunk communities. He has been coming to North Light since he was 11 years old where he participated in the leadership program, athletics and community service projects. He also received the Good Citizenship Award and was a camp counselor for 7 years. He believes his current role would not be possible without his mentors, Irene Madrak and Keith Strand and his many experiences and opportunities through North Light. He has a bachelor’s degree in Adult and Organizational Development (AOD) from Temple University. Brian identifies as a ‘sports junkie’ since he loves to talk about sports and invests countless hours managing fantasy teams within the 4 major sports every year.

Tyresse Hill, Teen Services Coordinator

Born in Delaware and raised in Northeast Philadelphia, Tyresse is the youngest of four older brothers. He graduated from First Philadelphia High School in 2019 and is currently pursuing his Associate Degree in Early Childcare from Harcum College. Since the fourth grade, Tyresse has dreamt of becoming a teacher. He has been working with children across North Philadelphia communities for nearly six years. Working with children has given Tyresse a great purpose, passion and motivation to support the youth. Tyresse is also a creative writer and poet where in 2019, he copyrighted and self-published his first poetry book. He is a positive force who brings his all to the table and is truly a team player. Tyresse joined North Light in 2021 as a childcare staff member and was recently promoted to Teen Services Coordinator. Tyresse lives with his mother and dog name Chloe and cat name Night. In his free time, Tyresse enjoys films (horror being his favorite) music, writing, cooking and adventures.

Annie Schuster, Director of Development

Annie Schuster joined North Light in 2020. She previously spent ten years at Drexel University, working in several administrative departments across campus. She received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Temple University in 2008 and her master’s degree in Communications from Drexel in 2018. She currently lives in Manayunk with her husband, son, and giant dog. Active in the Manayunk Beer Runners, you can often find her on the Cynwyd Heritage Trail or the Tow Path. When she’s not running, she is also a spin instructor for local gyms.

Krista Wieder, Executive Director

Krista Wieder joined North Light at the end of 2019. She has a passion for bringing the community together to ensure each neighbor has what they need to be successful. She spent the previous 5 years running her own business; consulting with nonprofit and government agencies to provide expertise and solutions in the areas of organizational development, fundraising and economic development.  Prior to that her experience includes fundraising, youth workforce development and community and economic development. She received her bachelor’s degree in Geography (Regional Planning) from Penn State University and her MBA in Urban Economic Development from Eastern University. She currently lives in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia. She loves riding her bike and trail running in the Wissahickon, is a foodie and loves traveling and exploring new places.
