Meet Ty Hill, Teen Services Coordinator!

Hi! I’m Tyresse Hill (aka Ty, aka Mr. Hill). I joined North Light in August as the Teen Services Coordinator!

I was born in Delaware and raised in Philadelphia. I live in Northeast with my mother and two pets. It was in the 4th grade that I had the dream of being a teacher. I focused on that goal and started taking on leadership opportunities at school as soon as I could. By the 9th grade, I had my first job working with children. I started out at The Lighthouse, a community center in North Philadelphia, as a Teen Tutor and eventually I made my way to the role of Group Supervisor. Since then, I have worked with kids of all ages…even infants! I have grown into someone who truly loves education. After working with kids for seven years, I am now enrolled at Harcum College and studying Early Childhood Education. After I graduate, I hope to become a director or Support Coordinator for youth.

I originally started at North Light in October of 2021 as an Assistant Group Supervisor. I had been working outside of education part-time during the pandemic and wanted to get back into the classroom. North Light is unique, and it has allowed me to get a fresh start, back in the education field.

I was so excited to see the Teen Services Coordinator position become available. For years, I imagined being a part of an organization in a role that would challenge me. I knew I had the knowledge and experience, I just had to find the confidence to try something new and to let my hard work speak for itself.

The Teen Services program is currently being revamped, but my goals for the program are to bring change into the lives of teenagers, making sure each student feels loved and valued, and to build a program that leaves an impact in their lives. The Teen Services Program will give students a place to go, a person they can talk to for support, and give them a space in an organization that cares. So many students crave stability and North Light can be the stable place for them.
