North Light Puts the Focus on Family

North Light Community Center, 175 Green Lane, will be hosting one of Philadelphia Photo Arts Center’s (PPAC) citywide annual Philly Photo Day Workshops.  On Friday, October 18th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, PPAC artists will be at North Light to teach photography workshops and lend digital cameras to children (with their parent/s) to photograph our local community. In a follow-up workshop held on Monday, October 21st from 4:00-6:00pm, those same participants will work in collaboration with a teaching artist to integrate their best photographs into a digital mural that will be comprised of multiple images of the neighborhood in a collage, grid, or other design. Our community mural, along with thousands of other images created throughout the City on Philly Photo Day, will be included in a central exhibition from November 14th to December 28th and our locally created mural will be installed on the exterior wall of North Light (Green Lane side) for a minimum of six months.

In keeping with our local theme, Family Focus, children, ages 3 to 10 and their parent/s, who can be available for both workshops, are welcome.  Participation is free but pre-registration is required. If you would like to be a part of Philly Photo Day at North Light, please contact Irene Madrak at 215-483-4800, x102 or no later than October 11, 2013.
