Grownups Can Be Kids Too!

More than 30 adults gathered in North Light’s community room on Tuesday evening to help plan the new playground being built on Tuesday, September 30th. KaBOOM!, a national non-profit dedicated to ensuring that all kids get the balanced and active play they need to thrive, has paired North Light with GlaxoSmithKline, a global healthcare company dedicated to improving the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer, for funding. Based on the drawings the children in camp had done earlier, neighbors, North Light staff and members of the board of directors selected the equipment and colors for the playground. The KaBOOM! design team will come up with three layouts based on the selections.

We’re calling on community members to provide input and sweat equity to create a space the neighborhood can be proud of!  Please help make this project a reality by getting your hands dirty with the site preparation or the build itself. We need you to join us for one, a few, or all of the following dates/times:

Saturday, September 27, 8:00am-5:00pm and/or Monday, September 29, TBA – Site Preparation – pitch in to remove the old playground and get the site ready for the new one.

Tuesday, September 30, 8:00am-3:00pm – Playground Build Day (All hands on deck!)

All meetings and events will take place at North Light, 175 Green Lane. Please RSVP to Irene Madrak at 215-483-4800 or for any of the dates/times you can help. Please also let us know if your business is interested in providing food for volunteers or participating in Build Day.
