There are Many Ways to Give to North Light

General Support

Since its inception, North Light has held to the philosophy that no one should be turned away for lack of financial resources. In order to keep programs accessible and affordable, North Light must rely on the generosity of individuals in our community as well as area foundations and businesses and the United Way. The following methods of giving provide vital general support.

Annual Fund: Gifts provide critically needed support of North Light’s core programs as well as partial subsidy of some programs and complete underwriting of programs with no revenue, such as the Emergency Support Program.

Matching Gifts: You may increase your annual contribution to North Light if your workplace or that of your spouse has a matching gifts program. See your company’s personnel officer for the appropriate procedure.

United Way: You may designate North Light Community Center as a recipient by marking the specific care section of the donor choice form with North Light’s name and code number, # 00091.

Special Events: North Light presents a number of special events during the year to help support the Center. Typically, they include “Beef and Beers”, Lucky Draws, Spring Flower Sales, Kids Koral at the Main Street Indian Summer Festival, etc.

Annual Golf Classic and Silent Auction: North Light holds its Annual Golf Classic and Silent Auction the last Monday in July at the Whitemarsh Country Club in Lafayette Hill. Celebrity attendees have included the late Tug McGraw, winning World Series Phillies pitcher, FOX Sportscaster Don Tollefson, NBA Hall of Fame Coach John Chaney of Temple University, Coach Speedy Morris of St. Joe’s Prep, Steve Coates, TV color commenator for the Flyers and Skip Denenberg, Emmy award winning songwriter/singer. Sponsorships at a variety of levels from $350 to $10,000 and beyond are available through May. Limited availability of tickets to the general public go on sale in June.

Auction items may be donated through April. They include a wide range of items such as use of a vacation home, fishing expeditions, trips, season tickets to athletic and cultural events and gift certificates to shops and restaurants. The Auction Catalog and bid sheets will be available by mail in July for those who cannot attend the event.

Tee time for the Golf Classic is 12:15 pm. It is preceded by lunch and followed by cocktails, dinner and the silent and live auctions. For more information call the Development Office at 215 483-4800.

Gifts In-Kind: A gift-in-kind is a non-cash gift or service that would be of some value to North Light such as a computer, athletic equipment, office furnishings, etc.

Endowment Support

North Light’s Endowment Fund provides perpetual support to the Community Center. The principal of a gift to the Endowment Fund is invested, with the interest and dividend income contributing to North Light’s operating fund. The capital gains are required to be reinvested for long term growth of principal, which is to be maintained in perpetuity. Building a significant Endowment Fund is essential to ensuring North Light’s ability to sustain quality programs and serve its community in the future. An endowment gift may be made at any time.

Planned Giving

A number of North Light’s friends are guaranteeing that their tradition of giving continues well into the future by providing for the Center through Planned Gifts while furthering their individual financial goals. Planned

Gifts by Will: A Gift by will provides a lasting legacy to North Light. Gifts by Will may be accomplished in several ways, according to the wishes and needs of the donor. Notification of the intent to give a Gift by Will will be recognized annually.

Other Planned Gifts include gifts of life insurance, gifts of appreciated property and charitable trusts.

If you are interested in remembering North Light with such a gift or if you have already done so, please let us know. We would be pleased to list you as a member of North Light’s Heritage Society, which recognizes those generous individuals who have remembered the center in their estate plans. Your participation sets an important example for others and assists North Light in its long range planning. You may also belong to the society anonymously.

Please contact the Development Office at 215 483-4800 for additional information.

Memorial/Tribute Gifts

A Tribute Gift or a Memorial Gift is an expression of love and respect that lives through service to others. A Tribute Gift shows a person that you care. A Memorial Gift honors the memory of a friend or loved one. A Tribute/Memorial Gift may be planned or given outright, and is placed in the fund of your choice, General Support or Endowment, to help ensure the availability of North Light’s programs and services. Each Tribute Gift honoree is notified that a gift has been made in his/her honor. Each Memorial Gift will be honored on North Light’s Memorial Plaque.
