North Light Community Center will help celebrate the first ever Manayunk Fit Fest and Walk the Wall on Saturday, June 1st in the Levering Street Parking Lot off Main Street in Manayunk from 9am to 3pm.

This year Fairmount Behavioral Health System is a sponsor and has helped to put together the Manayunk Fit Fest which will be held the day before the Manayunk Bike Race/Philadelphia Cycling Classic. The Fit Fest will include free live-30 minute workout classes, on-site confidential health consultations, and a chance to explore the trails along the Tow Path and Walk the Wall. This is a family friendly event that is sure to break a sweat for everyone.

So what is Walk the Wall? It is your chance to walk the infamous Manayunk Wall that will be tackled by professional cyclists on Sunday, June 2^nd during the Philadelphia Cycling Classic!  We will be represented at the Walk the Wall tent in the Levering Street Lot and would love for you and your family to stop by and join us!

Help support North Light by participating in the Walk the Wall. Each participant is asked to donate $15 to one or all of the sponsoring organizations including North Light. Your participation will go towards supporting current programs including supplying food to families in need, year-round quality childcare, and job training and academic support for teens.

St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t have to be just one day. On Tuesday, March 12th start the celebration early by coming to “Hearts O’ Clover” Night at Winnie’s LeBus, 4266 Main Street in Manayunk. From five to nine o’clock that evening, 100% of what you spend on food and beverages will go directly to North Light Community Center to help neighborhood families in need with food and services.

Executive Chef John O’Brien will be cooking up corned beef and cabbage and Irish stew, accompanied with baskets of their famous Artisan breads served at every meal, in addition to the regular menu that night. Dinner fare includes meals like Mom’s meatloaf, North Atlantic crab cakes and Thai turkey salad. Among the selections for vegetarians is butternut squash lasagna. Or try homemade nachos topped with black beans, salsa and guacamole, all made from scratch daily. Younger diners, children 12 and under, can choose from their own menu with a dozen choices for $5 or less.

The Wall Cycling Studio in Manayunk to host special outdoor classes to benefit North Light Community Center

The Wall, Manayunk’spremiere cycling studio, will host its first annual outdoor cycling class on Saturday, October 13 to benefit the North Light Community Center. The event will feature three outdoor spin classes taught by The Wall’s Mad Dogg certified instructors on Manayunk’s famous Main Street accompanied by live music, free food, prizes and a swag bag for all who participate.

Outdoor classes run 45 minutes and will be held at 11:15 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. And forget the iPod—riders will sweat to live music and a DJ. Prizes will be given out throughout the day, and all participants will leave with a swag bag full of goodies from local shops. Classes run $30 each with proceeds going to the North Light Community Center.

“Health and well-being isn’t just about the individual—it’s about the community,” said Juliet Sabella. “The North Light Community Center brings so much to Manayunk. This is our small way of saying thanks and bringing awareness to such a deserving organization.”

North Light Community Center is pleased to invite you to be part of an exciting new FUNdraising event, “Casino Night”, on Friday, September 21, 2012, 7:30 to 11:30pm.

The River Club, upstairs at the Manayunk Brewery & Restaurant,  4120 Main Street in Manayunk, will take on the air of Las Vegas, filled with tables for black jack, craps, roulette and a money wheel, all run by professionals. Drinks will be “Happy Hour” prices during the event and wait staff will be passing plenty of hors d’oeuvres. The casino games are for entertainment only; no monetary rewards will be given. Instead, at closing, trade in your chips for tickets to choose gift baskets via a “pick-a-prize” raffle. Or trade them in to get a “super” ticket for the grand prize.
